propane injection?

I'm considering installing propane injection and i was wondering the following:
1. whats the good and bad about it
2. is it worth the money to install
3. what are some good companies taht make the injection kit.
4. if installing propane is bad, then what would be a alternate decision?

It all depends on what you plan on using it for. Propane will help with milage and add some power and is fairly safe. if you are going to use it to tow and daily drive, it might be ok. but under heavy load, it can cause detonation.

* straight from DP mag.

Honestly, i think the propane should stick with the grill...

Just had a truck towed in that had propane injection and it completely melted #1 piston. He tried getting new engine under warranty, but instead his truck was put on restriction by Chrysler. He towed it out after he was told $15,000 to replace engine.

When you're adding fuel like methanol or propane, it advances timing. A timing advance is OK in moderation, but sometimes if you have other mods that advance timing too (programmers, and boxes) you can get too much timing with disasterous results. Also each engine responds differently to a certain extent.
The reason it advances timing (and you can't change that) is that the fuel is coming in on the intake stroke instead of when diesel is injected near the top of the compression stroke.

Due to it's high initial cost & installation, operating expense and fuel-timing increase effect... propane is no longer a viable option for most folks when they can do so much more for so much less with a quality programmer.

i have it on my truck, its a pretty hot street truck. i have been running propane for over a year and havent had any trouble. even with all my mods when the propane is on it adds great power more by itself than the programmer.
