Question Programmers...

And the disease starts....
Just wondering from the experienced and knowledeable about a couple of different programmers.

The Smarty seems to be one of the most popular, so Ill start with that. It says in the ads for it that all the power levels are the same, just how they get there is different, so does that mean that the lower levels produce the same hp as the higest, just less low end fueling? Do those of you that have one find the need to change files much, or pretty much just pick one and leave it there? I just dont want to be constantly having to change files depending on the mood Im in.

The other one I am looking at is the Bully Dog Tripple Dog. It is a great price, has a 200hp program, and is adjustable on the fly (which sounds really nice). Just wondering what your opinions are on both.

Thanks very much.
Matt

Both are good with the smarty you have to plug it in to change the tune and also have to get gauges, with bully dog you can get the switch on the fly stuff and the outlook moniter has built in gauges

I personally am not a BD fan, just due to the fact that it re-writes your ECM. I have a friend that it trashed his ECM on his truck, caused him a lot of problems. On the other hand, there are a lot of people that love it. I'm not bashing it one little bit.

I do already have a set of isspro gauges on the way, so monitoring things wont be an issue. My main concern was that I would want to be changing programs on the smarty often, between driving to work and towing occasionally, which would seem like a hassle. Also I did pay for an extended warranty on this truck so it would be nice to have something that doesnt just jump out at the dealer.

Thanks

Have you checked out the new Quadzilla X-2 module. It is 5 stage adjustable on the fly. Great power and options! Especially for the price. They sell them in the DTR store. By the way it is a module, so it just plugs in under the hood and as long as you take it off when you go to the dealer, it wont be something too easy for them to find.

You might consider PPE Hot. I can say it was the best thing I have used of all the electronic upgrades that I have tried.

the change on the fly capability is something you will love once you have it. you can daily drive at a lower setting (tow or performance) and if the situation arises when you need to defend your manhood you can switch to crazy larry, and when your done switch right back.
