Truck lost boost pressure and power coming back from my camping trip last night, towing my toy hauler 14k. no loud noises just a slight buck then the low boost.

Best I can tell it looks like my down pipe slip out the clamp on the back of the turbo, would this cause a power lost ??

 

how were the EGT's? check all boost tube boots.

 

Also check the pipe going to the intake elbow. It is plastic form the factory and it could have split.

 

Egt's were normal, truck continue to sound good.
I checked all the boots as best as i could last night, did'nt see or feel any cracks. the intake is the BD cast.

Just curiuos on the down pipe and if the loss of back pressure will cause this drop in power and boost ??

 

How is the smoke? Is there a lot more now? It sounds like you have a big boost leak somewhere. Your down-pipe will not cause what you describe. If it was blocked off then I could foresee a problem, but not with it open.

 

Could be the eletronic acuator for the wastegate. Mine quite working last year around this time of year.. Couldn't get more than 20 psi because of the wastegate was stuck open.. Since then I've clamped off the rubber hose and cured all problems..

 

this happened to mine a couple years ago. wastegate was stuck open. warranty took care of it.

 

I think you are correct on the waste gate, Taking the truck to the shop on Tueday.

I have my smarty with the waste gate turned off, should this still hang up ??
