I keep hearing about closing or dissconecting the watse gate.I was under the impression that would make your turbo fly apart with no where to releive excess pressure.Also will upgrading your turbo get into any warranty issues?
If you have never done it before, be ready to buy a new turbo.
Yes, your engine warranty (more likely your entire powertrain warranty) will be void if they figure out you screwed with the wastegate.
The trick is to take just a little bit of vaccum away from the tube that runs from the vacuum can to the wastegate. That way the vaccuum can has to supply more vaccuum before the wastegate will actually open.
Its one of the things where you go to far and you blow it up.
Kind of like a 20-stroke. Lean is better, but if you go too far......
