Picking up a II Silver Bullet...Questions

I was able to get a really good deal on a silver bullet turbo, but had a few questions. I have done a lot of reading on this, 19 pages last night in a search, and read a lot of different results. First, will I need a new down pipe or with the turbo bolt right up? Second, do I need a Boost Fooler or the wastegate sensor fooler that Industrial sells, or both?

Thanks,
Alex

You'll need a wastegate sensor fooler unless you want to mess around and try to find a resistor to wire into your old sensor.

Ok I went ahead and ordered the wastegate sensor today. I was told that the 05 and newer trucks, (and some 04.5 trucks) need a wastegate fooler and a boost fooler that goes into the map to keep from gettin an over boost code. Is this true?

Yes, i think you can only go to 44 psi of boost before it throws the code but if your only using the smarty for fueling i don't know if you'll see that much boost psi anyway.

Just an FYI, if your on stock sticks, thats a LAGGY sob. As in, almost not driveable. Its no fun driving a truck that cant get out of its own way. Mine with the stocker is WAY quicker than with the 'bullet. But when it did spool, it hauled. I did have a big jump in topend, just took forever to get there.

Not knocking the turbo, but ya gotta have fuel to suppport it. And yea, youll need the wastegate and boost fooler. Otherwise its going to set a code. I cant remember if that code cuts back on fueling or not.

Stock downpipe will work. Just take the cast elbow from the stocker and throw it on the 'bullet after you pull out the two locater pins

I was surprised at how laggy it was. I noticed that everyone that said "its not that bad" were closer to sea level than you and I are. Just so you know what your getting...

im running the silver bullet on a 01 24valve and am at sea level and the truck is easily streatable with my edge comp on or off but when i hit anywhere over 4000 feet i hate it! get a set of 150hp injectors and it will be awesome but smokey in the altitude. but hey you wont have to worry about egts anymore! lol

Yeah I have read a lot of posts about the lag. I was able to get a really good deal on the turbo so I will just live with the lag until I have the injectors to go with it.

Can not. Stock sticks and high altitude, its brutal spooling it. The I80 onramp here is over half a mile long; without flooring it, maybe half pedal, it wouldnt spool in that half mile. Just rolled coal the entire way.

oops sorry yea passing isnt the same with this turbo! if your rolling at 25mph and want to get in front of someone, good luck! just keep the rpms above 2000 and you will be fine but you will need to kick it out of overdrive in order to have the throttle response.

I was just going to say.. Drop it out of OD by hitting the magic button on the end of the shifter to get the RPMs up a little.. Even my Silver62 is laggy compared to stock.. I am going to try and add a cam to see how that helps and then plan on small sticks.. something in the 1.8-2.0 range..
