Phat Shaft Turbos

Hey all, whats your opinion on industrials phat shaft 62 and 66 turbos. They say they are good to bolt on stock. I am thinkin about putting one on my 06, then building off that. Thanks.

Well you want to be careful with this, for example a 66 takes longer to spool even when you have a stupid amount of fuel like me, so I don't think you would want to drop a 66 onto a stock truck. I would say try and do the chip/downloader with the turbo but I really don't know anything about anything and should probably just shut my mouth and go back to work

my sps 62/14 is great. i installed it when i only had the quad race module and quad monster intake. it was very driveable and lowered my towing egts like promised by II. with the quad box off, spool up was pretty slow since that turbo is alittle bigger than stock and stock fueling just isnt enough to spool it. with the quad on any setting other than off, it is just great. stack it with smarty, and look out!.

i am very pleased with the turbo and would do it again.

I am very happy with my 66 but I havent had stock fueling since my truck broke 900 miles and I agree with JD that a 66 would be way to big for stock fueling. If your truck is an auto you may want to look into trans work before a turbo. Also if you get an adjustable box or dl now you can keep the fuel cut down until you get a bigger turbo, then you can use the fuel and air together intsead of havin too much of one or the other.

Dodgezilla has an HTB2 by HTT that is a 62/12 and if I remember correctly, was very pleased with the performance with his 06 and not added fuelin. However I believe he is runnin a quad box now.

Agreed that you need enough fuel to light the SPS66, but it does not take 600hp setup. I am very happy with my II SPS66. It has been on for over a year and a half. I run daily with my stack at about 110-130hp over stock and do not have any real lag. Its not like stock maybe but between the boxes and learning how to drive with it I don't realy notice lag at all. And when I want it will light quick enough. I do not tow heavy and I am sure that might make for some issues, but my light towing is not a problem.

I am very happy with my silver62. With extra fueling it spools very fast. I think though that without extra fuel that it would be a little laggy,, not as laggy as a 66, but definately laggier than stock

like every one has said the 66 can be a bit laggy without fuel to spool it. i have it on my truck with 80 hp injectors and a smarty and watch out this lites super quick.

If you talk to brandon he will steer you to the 62 almost no matter what really. He'll ask what you have then what you have planned then give you the reconmendation. Probly the 62. I just got mine in a 2 weeks ago and i think it'll be enough. What i have plus i want injectors he said the the 62 and he saw it support over 600hp. SO i don't know but do like it.

I wouldn't go for a 66 thats just to big but a 6270 will spool great on a stock engine and you can build off of that till around 500 hp give or take, then you will need to go bigger on the turbine wheel side to keep the egt and backpressure in check. If you want to go for 600 hp go with a super 6280 or something like that. A sps66 is just to big of a turbo without any fuel mods but if your going to go for big hp over 600 then get it and build off of that one.

I've got a 62/12 and it's a nice turbo. Spools quick, not overly noisy, no surge that I can tell.

I have the Silver Bullet turbo and it is killer! I do have a substancial bit of fueling upgrades and this thing makes sick HP. I have a buddy, he wanted a good all-around driver and went with the SPS62 and it is a nice piece too. It has a much faster spool, but mine is stepup for a completely different reason... it is a show truck! and a fast one too. I will be moving to the new racing twins in the next couple of months...

Ive got a ps 62/14 and can hit 1250-1300 with stock fueling. Not sure why yet, but trying to get it figured out.
