performance transmission shop around Oklahoma ??

So I talked to Goernd tranny's today man with the flex plate and the shift kit with shipping they said 5500$ on the base price 3750$ tranny... plus most of the shops around here (oklahoma city) don't seem to happy to do a remove and replace they want to do the rebuild...

does anyone know a real good tranny shop in oklahoma or texas or surrounding states that does good work it would be worth a drive one weekend or somthing that does'nt cost quite so much....

Thanks for your time.

Zac

So you are saying that shipping and the flex plate added almost 2,000??? Why a shift kit? part of the build includes the modified valvebody. Something don't seem right or I am confusing myself.
Isn't a 1,000 or more a core charge that you will get back?

Please call (563) 778-2719 for a list of installers in your area. This number may be busy so please leave a message and we will return your call as soon as possible. Thank you.

Did you try their number I took this directly from their website.

You're barely more than a 12hr drive from Dave's shop. If you can find the time, it's worth the trip up. He can put you up for the night, and I don't think anyone will do a better job than he will. Don't know of any good tranny shops around OKC at this time though...
When I had my tranny done on the '02, Dave took care of everything. Of course it helps that his shop was less than 3 hrs for me. I know of some that drove down from Canada to have him do the work; and were not disappointed...
Good luck!

Don't know what the cost is nowadays, but I paid $400 for my install on a 4WD a few years ago...

I would look into the trip if you could. I had dave ship mine and I changed it out. The drive would save you shipping both ways and you wouldn't pay that core as he would take yours right then.

Just fyi, James Northum builds DTT transmissions in North Texas (Midlothian S. of Dallas/Ft. Worth). He is also an authorized Goerends installer if you prefer their transmissions. Both are great! I am very happy with my DTT.

There is a guy in Ada, OK at TRS Transmission. I had a trans built by him in my 98 Dodge Dakota and it held up great. I haven't heard any complaints about him at all. I believe he does race mods, regular trans rebuilds, etc etc. You may call him and tell him what you want to do. 580-310-6166 his name is Brian Danker

I called him just a min ago, he said 2200$ with an upgraded torque converter with about the same stall speed as stock, warranty is 12 months but he said if i plan on hotrodding it or racing and stuff its probably not going to hold up he said mostly all his trannys are for is guys pulling trailers.

2200$ installed and everything is a nice price but guess it probably wont be for me with a diablo programmer though.....

Zac, I live in NW OKC and have a built DTT tranny in my '05. If you'd like to drive it see how DTT feels to you, shoot me a PM and we'll hook up. That Northum guy in Texas seems to be well spoken of for DTT trannies, and he's fairly close by.

That stock stall speed drove me crazy and was one of the reasons I had my tranny built by DTT. Now it's not offensive like the stock unit, unless you like the high stall speed thing.
