Performance Friendly Dealers
I was at a delaership today looking at the new 3rd gens and fueling boxes was brought up. Much to my suprise the salesperson said they sell Dr. Performance chips and and they have them on all their demo trucks. I asked if aftermarket injectors and turbos would void my warranty and the answer was no as long as one of their mechanics did the install. At this point I was shocked, but we kept talking about modifications. The salesperson told me that they would need to reflash my truck before I added a box because so it wouldnt tear up the auto tranny and keep the truck running on normal operating conditions.
Does anyone know what reflash they were talking about? I know very little about the 3rd gens and computer reflashes, but the salesperson was driving a 05 dodge with a dr. performance chip so maybe they do need to reflash the truck to keep it running smooth. Can anyone shed some light on this reflash?
Thanks,
Cody

Did they also mention as mine did that the cost is over $1200.00 for only 60Hp ?
No thanks!
They're pretty proud of their product if you ask me!
I'd rather wait, get guages, or an outlook, build the trans., and then pack on 230hp.

my dealer is just like that. they tell me to do stuff to my truck and offer to sell them to me. They sold me the edge box for 500 bucks, and offered 70 to install it but i installed it myself. they still do warranty work and love to get the Ford, Chevy, and dodge trucks that the customers own to race, at the customers consent however. When i got my oil changed last week they loved to rev the exhaust with all the people standing outside. everyones attention just focuses right on my truck when they start revving
my dealer is indeed cool

wish I could find a dealer like that, around here they are so tightwadded up it isn't funny//// anyone know of a friendly dealer in New Jersey ???? We should make a sticky thread with a posting of all the friendly dealers or pop a section into the faq section, a little less obvious and harder to find but I am sure that is how the site would want it...... something member access only!
Yeah, I was really suprised about how mod friendly they were. The salesperson even told me that most of the mechanics drive bombed diesels. I'm still wondering what they were talking about when they told me that they would need to reflash my computer before I put any boxes on it. Is there an actual reflash needed before we mod our trucks or were the feeding me full of bull?
I am here in Texas and a dealership that I have become friends with said that they could reflash the truck for 75 bucks. The tech told me that the flash was just released from Dodge late last year for the 03's. He also said that on top of the increased hp, milage in the factory trials also increased 5%.
I think it is worth my $75.

Reflash for more power on 03's.
I can tell you that there is absolutely no Mopar (DC endorsed) reflash for the Cummins 5.9L for more power. There have been reflashes for fuel economy, missfires, etc. but not for increase performance over what was purchased from the factory.
I have heard these same stories and find it amazing. If you ever told DC corporate about it, they would freak. Don't you think if the powertrain could handle more power, they would offer it?
Of course its a win-win (until corporate finds out) for the dealer.
1. He keeps the customer happy
2. The happy customer pretty much has to come back to him.
3. Dealer gets more revenue from increased warranty.
4. Dealer gets increased warranty for selling aftermarkey equipment.
5. Dealer's techs stay busier (and are probably happier driving their warrantied bombed trucks).
If I were you guys, I'd be taking full advantage of that. You will always have the, "my dealer sold it to me" card in your back pocket.

Yeah, I can get more info. I live in Denton but I am very picky about my Dodge House. I have tried Frisco (where I bought my baby) but I got screwed around on my fianancing and had to get my attorney involved. I won to a toon of 2000 bucks in my pocket and the job of the fianance clerk but I am afraid that they may put a curse on my truck if I went back. I have also tried Hillsborough, Lewisville, and Denton... all either had no idea of the reflash or I didnt feel comfortable with leaving my baby there. I now drive to Decatur (35 miles) to take it to them. The service manager has been there a long time which is a plus and they had no problem with me dealing straight with him because I hate being talked to like I don't know anything from the regular line service tech. ( I hope I didn't offend anyone) It was the service manager who first told me when I asked him about extra gas milage I was trying to achieve about the reflash coincidentally about a week after it was put out. He didn't try and just sell it to me. He advised me NOT to do it until it was out on the market a few months, to ensure if it had any tweaking to be done, my truck would not be a guiinee pig. That is something I appreciate.
Anyway, I digress

I am due for an oil change and it gives me the opportunity to talk with him again. I will see this week about the flash. Chances are I will get mine done at the same time since I have heard raving reviews about it here on the boards. I will write back when I get it done and can test it out a bit to give ya'll accurate info.

I guess your the one that put Frisco Dodge out of business there. I don't know who all they took with them, but they moved to McKinney Dodge and McKinney Dodge moved to Dallas Dodge.
