Performance cam installer in Houston, San Antonio or Austin

Does anybody out there in the houston area, san antonio area or austin area know of a reputable shop or individual that can do a cam install that will not clean out your wallet. The shop that I contacted in san antonio about installing a cam in an 05 gave me quote of 40 hrs and said he had never done one and would most likely have to pull the motor..
I have used the guy before but 40 hours seems a little on the extreme side of time and I think his rate is 70 per hour which equals out 2800. I am also going to install a new turbo and exhaust manifold. THis kind of cost makes it an no way situation.
I am not so much have a problem with rate but the time quoted when I read other posts that it takes 8 to 12 hours.

If there is somebody else in any area of texas I am more than thankfull for any information.

thanks

The factory service manual calls for 40 hours. A little over the top IMO. Chris @ Relentless Diesel is in the Houston area. Just North of Houston I believe. Willis area. He has done tons of cams and you dont have to pull the engine.

Some shops raise the engine up some, but you dont have to pull it. Some modify a thin sheet metal cross member. Either way is no big deal. It is more like 8 hours.

Thanks for the info Don M. I had decided on your helix two cam with springs and was just doing my homework before I bought and ended up with having to do it myself.
I will contact them at Relentless diesel.

Labor Operation Detail
Select LOP Description Failure Codes Material Allowance (USD) Type Hours
09050116 Camshaft - Replace Cummins Diesel (A) Primary 5.3 hrs.

Unfortunitly Chrysler has figured out you don't have to pull the engine . This is a copy out of the current warranty manual. Normally you will pay 1.5 to 2.0 times the warranty time for "retail". I'll put in another vote for Chris @ Relentless Diesel.

When my first cam was installed I had a friend who is local do it. Him and another guy did the install in about 10 hours.

By myself I could probably knock just a cam out in about 12 hours or so.
I have never done "just" a cam so I couldnt say accurate I guess.
