People suck....

I am new to this board and diesels in general so after hearing so much good stuff about the Smarty Jr I decided to get one for myself. Being thrifty I searched on Ebay and found a good "deal" on one and bought it. Today I received a letter from Ebay stating the guy was fraudulent. So I went to the Mads website, for the first time, and saw the disclaimer about Ebay sales. **** it. So now I have to hope my money can be recovered and then I can purchase from DTR or MADS. I don't know how people can do this to other people. I know why they do it just don't understand it its like they have no conscience at all. Live and learn I guess...

Sorry to vent

Sorry to hear about that bud. I think I know the guy you are talking about...... the one that had the cheap Smarty Sr's on ebay. I would have been hesitant when I saw the price of them; I know I was.

Typically, I never buy from individuals that I don't know. However, I have bought a few things from members on here and everything has went smooth so far.

The thing was it wasn't that much less than on here. $35 less than here so it wasn't like $100 or anything huge. Oh well

Yeah I know they weren't much less. If I remember correctly, the Sr's were like $635 or something. I was a little suspicious because that was the first time I had ever seen a Smarty below retail which is $685.

I've heard of a few guys getting burned on e-bay. i know there was a while back when they were running motorcycle scams. Buddy and I went patrolling for Harleys and found a few too good to be true. Reported them immediately and found them to be scams. Sorry to hear you got burned there.

Sold a 50" tv on ebay, got a money order for it, and shipped it. Two weeks later the bank called and says, "the money order bounced". What! Anyone heard of a money order bouncing?! Well it was forged, and I lost my tv and my 2000 bucks. Stealing is next to murder in my book...

That happened to me a few years ago when I was selling more on there. Now all I take is Paypal. You pay for it but the protection is nice.

You stand a better than average chance of getting burned on Ebay from the "low ball" guys. What I'm going to say is in no way a guarantee but we have very few issues on the classifieds here. Occasionally a member doesn't do right but most of the time they do. Look through the classifieds and if you don't see what you want, call Lary at the DTR store or send him a pm or an email. It may take him a bit to get back to you but he'll do you the best that he can.

I just had a similar thing like that happen to me twice last week. Same kind of deal. I post my buddies smarty and my other buddies superchip for a ford on craigslist. I got emails on both of them the very next day saying that they want the programmers and for me to take the add off. So I did and the guy's both sent me emails asking for my adress and that the money orders were on there way. The next day I got an email from both again saying the same thing-that there assistant accidentally sent a $2500 dollar money for the smarty and a $1000 dollar money order for the superchip and they both asked me if I could cash them and take my part out and mail them the rest plus the product back. This was last week so Im waiting to see if I get the money orders! Seems like a big scam to me!

Do not cash that... Trust me... I learned the almost hard way... I was selling my swarofski binoculars and spotting scope along with range finder... Some jack --- did the same thing and said oops we send a money order for too much just cash it and send me back the rest plus keep a hunderd for your troubles.. Plus they kept harrasing me to get it in a box and put it on the front porch and they will have ups pick it up so I was smart enough to wait... Goood dang thing... it was a fradulent check... So I e-mailed them and said I was calling the F.B.I. and they sent another fradulent check!!!! They need to be hung!!!!

So what is it? They want you to cash the money order so they can get your product and make money off of you? Then you get screwed by the bank after it bounces huh?
