P 0148 ?? Arson III kit?

hello,
truck has been throwing the p0148 every now and then, seem like it will do it under heavy load when pulling trailer up hills or hard acceleration. So here I am thinking its gotta be the lift pump. So installed airdog yesterday, on my test drive got on it pretty good with smarty on sw 4 and here comes check engine light again..
so now with that said- seems like from my searching on here that the fca is a common problem? But truck has been throwing p2146/2149 also, so could it be injectors? Well my buddy is wanting to spend little more money on his truck with some decent hp gain. His truck is identical to mine in my sig only his is an 06. So i was doing some looking about the arson kit, figured if he was doing one we'd might as well do two, especially if my codecould be from a bad fca? does the arson III include the fca and cascade valve? Also my biggest concern is will the arson kit be okay with stock sticks? And if so how much performance gain we looking at with stock sticks/turbo out of it? Lastly with say some 40 or 100hp f1s and a decent set of twins what is the arson kit capable of? 650-700? just curious for down the road.. thanx guys

Thumbs up

Yes, you get a new FCA, Cascade valve, gearcase pump, and new high flow fuel fitting. This is an excellent upgrade, will help a stock setup as well as non stock.

P02146, P02149 are injector supply voltage circuits 1 and 2. Check your injector harness connections, could also be valve cover gasket.

I will include a link from Cummins Forum where I did a simple step by step install, sixth post down. Jess

Thanx jj,
I already had the injector harness/valve cover gasket replaced under warranty thou, thought that'd sure fix it but nope, on mornin of turkey day it did it again p2146.. Got a feelin must be an injector/s goin bad, haven't took time to do the ohm metter check yet, thinkin if it is the culprit sendin them to f1 and gettin some nozzles while they're there.

Have you tried disconnecting the Quad Commander to see if the P0148 clears?

Well I had it unhooked because I sent it in for the fp update kit and saw the code several times while it was off. Just curious but how could it cause it to throw the code? I'm just using the commander for gauges. Put it back on and installed my airdog next day and saw the code on my test drive for the airdog, haven't saw it since thou. Going to hook on trailer tommorow so that should be good test because it would always ce up when pullin trailer up hill..

p1048 is a cam sensor i believe, lots of mis diagnose on this issue.IF that is the code more than likely a short in the wiring harness.Just went thru it,wifes got the truck , gone shopping, bill for repair is in my /our truck.

Where you trying to say p0148? Which is fuel delivery. Im having this same issue right now. I already replaced all my injectors with new ss bodies.. still have the problem.. But my injectors were toast.

Today im installing an airdog100. I Was having that code pop up everytime i filled my tank. If i was below 1/4 tank of fuel i would have no engine light and truck would run good. So i can assume its the lift pump. We will see though.

If its not that its most likely the cp3. The fca would make the truck shake and drive Edit if that was going bad.

You can try running it...unhooking the fca and seeing how much of a difference it makes. It should run even worse unhooked.

But the best way to tell would be to find a buddy that has no issues and swap fca's with him to find out for sure.

By unhooking the FCA with your truck at idle, your rail pressure will ramp up and the engine should start to knock and clatter. If there is no sound or rpm change, the FCA might be the problem. Just dont drive with it unhooked or leave it unhooked for an extended period.
