OUT OF CONTROL EGTS Bully Dog PMT Help!!

HAve been running the PMT for a few months now. Everything was going well and egts were not too high. After flooring it it would take a while for egt to get to 1500 were I had the defuel set. Now, all of a sudden it will get to 1500 at half throttle sometimes. I cant even pass someone on the highway without it defueling. Im not even "getting on it" when it gets this high. This is all with the extreme setting that Bud sent me. Nothing has changed on the truck to cause this difference in temperature. Egts on the performance setting and at idle are the same. I thought it might have been a bad boost fooler but the green light is stll on so I think its working. Anyone experienced this or know what it might be?

bully dog burnt up 3 motors around here in the last 2 months. people having the same issues with too high EGTs.

Yeah, Im not going to let it burn up my motor. I just dont understand what could have caused the egt problem all of a sudden. It was behaving fine. Its like somthing changed in the programming or something to cause egts to go psyco on the extreme setting.

have you removed the extreeme setting and tried it? also, isn't defueling at 1500 a bit high? I was always told 1350 but I am no pro at this.

You can just remove one setting. All the settings are downloaded together so it can be adjusted on the fly. I have been told 1500 is ok for a sec or two but Im no pro either. Anyways, I have it set at 1300 defuel now but its hard to drive normal and keep it under that!!

this may not help, but a friend has the Pmt and when you key up the cb, the egts go to 2500. or so... maybe thats some help

Sounds like a bad EGT Probe to me as well, I would replace that or atleast pull it and make sure it is not cracked or bent and take it from there!

I'm not sure about the PMT, but my 2.4.1 egt's are higher than the previous 2.3.8.

2.4.1 should have higher egts because of the additional fueling right?
Are you comparing previouse extreme EGT to Crazy Larry EGT's (still reads as extreme on the PMT).

2.4.1 has more fuel then the previous versions as far as I know.

I wonder why! That usual means less timing = higher egt's.Oh well,maybe too many were complaining about timing issues.
