I was wondering if anyone out there had a few opinions or thoughts comparing BFG MT's to Goodyear MTR's.

I have my own...but would like to hear others concerning wear, noise, traction (snow, ice, wet, mut, dirt, etc), etc.

Thanks! Hopefully someone out there has run both in a recent time. I have only used BFG's for a long time.

Depends on the size...

I got a whoppin 12,000 out of my MTR's and now with the BFG's im at abot 21,000 with 20% tread left. If your doing any street driving id say BFG's but the MTR is an awsome offroad tire.

I do know the BFG MT's will give some off some noise. I like the look of the MTR's, but never had any luck with any goodyear tires. The guys at my tire shop said to stay away from the MTR's, unless I like spending money on a regular basis for tires. And they ain't cheap!

I have the BFG AT KO 315's, see sig. They have well over 20,000 miles on them, and show very little wear, if any. Good in snow and wet roads, do the job, and are still available new for around $100 ea. Can't beat the price. And the 50,000 mile warranty.

Are you telling me the 1000 bucks i just shelled out for tires are only going to last for 12000 miles? I bought 305-70-17s and love them so far, very quiet and awesome traction in the loose stuff and deep snow. I hope to hell they last longer than 12000 miles!!!!!

 

MTR's are a pretty soft rubber, thats what make them such an awesome rockcrawling tire and they have a pretty tough sidewall. I have been running the MTRs on my rockcrawler for three years, they work good in rocks, dirt, snow, but not very good in mud. BFG MT's, harder rubber, better for the street and they also work good in rocks, dirt, snow, and OK in the mud but the sidewalls are weak, I went through twenty two of them on the crawler (thank god for Americas Tire Company road hazzard warranty). For mostly street use I would go with the BFG's and I have also heard good things about Les Schawbs house brand MT's as being good on the street and mild wheeling!!!

 

For those of you want ing to know about the $100 price on the BFG AT KO 315's, they went up

I bought mine from Belle Tire here in Michigan, paid $120 ea, installed. The TireRack.com had them for $115 shipped. They are now running $179.00 ea on the TireRack. This is the tire that went on the Hummers, someone screwed up early this year and had made way to many of these BFG 315's. It looks like the inventory is back to normal.

If any of you belong to Sam's Club or Costco, they might still have these tires at a lower price. They did a few months ago.

I've got about 23K miles on my Trxus M/T's and still have quite a bit of tread left. Probably 10K miles or so.

 

didnt go with the BFGs because of sidewall problems. The Goodyears have been awesome in the ice and snow this year they really surprised me. I have about 8,000 miles on them and still a bunch of tread left. I pay close attention to tire pressure and roatation that may be the reason for good tire wear.

 

I have the Toyo open country mud terrains on my 01 there are sweet low noise and they last a long time unlike most mud terrains
