Opinions on PRW Flexplates
I am going to be doing some mild trans work and I don't plan on spending $450-$500 for a billet flexplate. When I looked a while ago I found Performance Racing Warehouse made a gold series for the Cummins that was SFI approved. Some people used them and like them others said they had problems.
Well PRW has released a new Platinum series that is supposedly even better, I was curious if anyone has had experience with them and what that experience was.
I don't plan on having real high hp or sled pulling or anything so I'm not gonna spend the $$ on a billet one, but if I can pick up a reasonably priced well made unit that is going to be stronger and more reliable than the stock one then I might just go for it.
So lets hear from those PRW users good and bad.

Well it went on and fit great. No problems at all with it thus far and I don't really anticipate any.
For the Price, $140, I would think more people might start considering these. Its a bit ridiculous to pay the prices people have been paying for the other plates out there.
I would imagine that this one is as strong or stronger than the laminated ones out there. Looking at the stock one I bet this one is 2.5 -3 times as thick.
Just thought I would report back and let people know

I know of one that just went on a Pro Street truck. Owner is trying them out to see how they hold up. They look good and come with SFI sticker. For the money if they hold up it is a very good deal.
And they are definitely better than stock. I think he has a couple in the box still, if so next time I am there I will get a picture or two. I think the website has picture IIRC.

Since I got my truck back on the road and racked up about 1200 miles with the SFI fp from PRW.
When a company has a sfi certified item, it's been tested to beable to withstand the stress, otherwise the sfi board would have legal issues with the co. The billet flp's have a sfi certification, do the laminated ones??

To answer your quest.; are these really better than stock? YES, read my post above.
There is a new number for SFI approval on the flex plates for the diesel trucks. The SFI 29.1 rating was a test that was designed around the gas motors which don't put out anywhere near the same amount of torque. SFI 29.3 is the new rating that covers the diesel trucks. SFI approval isn't going to matter to most people, but if you do end up needing the approval it has to be SFI 29.3.
Were did you guys find it for $140?
Looks like $174.50 on their website.
I was thinkin this would be a good compromise as I have no plans for a ton of track time and don't think I will be doing any boosted launches until after a trans upgrade with billet input (which is way down the road).
I would like to upgrade converters right now, so I was thinkin its a good time to do the flexplate.
Someday I would like to see my truck be around 500 hp, but probably won't be real soon.
What do you guys think?
Run this flexplate or cough up another $300 for billet or laminated version?

I was in the same boat and I obviously went this route. A flexplate is not a complicated product, make it flat, round and strong. Not worth $500 in my book.
Look on ebay can get them for $130

Honestly, I've been playing around with my truck and haven't had any problems, look at my mods and guess the power I'm kickin'.

FWIW the testing listed above will give an idea of its dynamic strength with no additional mass attached to it.
