Opinions on bypass filters

I know this has been beat more than the redheaded stepchild, but I'm gunna ask anyway.....I'm looking at the FS 2500 bypass filter...... just want to get some more opinions on bypass filters..... who's using them and what does your oil analysis tell you about the filters..... what kind of bypass are you using......

Head down to the bypass filters section and you should have a slew of reading material.

I run a MotorGuard TP bypass system. TP is for "toilet paper" JFYI!! I like it. Filters are about .75 cents each. Scotts 1000 TP. The only downside (not really) to the TP bypasses is the frequency of filter changes. I consider it quality time with my truck and it only takes about 5 minutes to do!! I change mine out at about 1500-2000 miles and add about 1/2-3/4qt of make up oil to replace what is in the used TP. The used TP goes into my burn pit. No filters or used oil to dispose of.

Dad used Frantz in the early 60s on the farm trucks when I was a kid and I changed the TP in them. They worked great but didn't last long. I have an Oilgaurd, transplanted from my first CTD. I used to do analysis every 5k but I figured out that was excessive. I went 25k one interval (on the same bypass filter) and the last test was still very good - OK to continue use. The Oilgaurd string wound elements have outstanding holding capacity. Oilgaurd claims it's perfectly safe to double the normal OEM recommended oil mileage with their bypass. I believe it! Another advantage is the fullflow will last a lot longer, too. Craig
