Smile Now for the power?

Ok I have finished with eveverything appearance wise after this weekend when I install the leveling kit and 285's. I put a chrome pop in gril, tool box, chrome door and tailgate handles, bed rails and got my CB in the truck. Now I am looking at a box for the truck. I am looking mainly at the Edge Juice with attitude and Bully dog Tri dog with outlook monitor. Local store sells bully dog and quoted me $930 for Tri dog and outlook installed with tax. Is this good? I am not looking to upgrade the tranny right now and would rather stick with one with the monitors and built in features. I know none are safe and I do not plan on abusing the tranny with them but which one would I be better off with? Is is better to have the 2 more adjustable levels with the edge or is it harder on the tranny? Thanks guys.

The Bullydog Triple dog with the outlook is a great combo, but i think i would go with the edge juice. I dont know if the outlook has safety features and the juice has proven to be a great box.

Bully Dog Outlook has saftey features. It returns the Triple Dog program to Stock if the Pyrometer Temp Exceeds the set value.

I second that. the edge is a much nicer unit (I have had both) the edge is also a way cleaner install.....

So if i had the outlook with the triple dog on the 90hp setting, i would go from 415hp back down to 325hp trying to pull a long grade?

If thats the case, the outlook probably sucks hard. the juice just backs down and defuels. i wouldnt want my truck to go back to stock if it got too hot.

The Outlook monitor is designed to Defuel on a preset Pyro Temp. It does not deprogram back to stock settings, just defuels. In my opinion I would run the new triple dog with Outlook combo. With the internet upgrades you can always stay current with what new programs are coming out and stay on top of any changes. I just think the Triple dog offers more features than most other on the market...

Thanks for all the help. One more question though. How hard is it to install the one of these? I know the bully dog just plugs in the cab and the edge hooks up under the hood but what about the monitors? Is it hard to run the wires and install the pyro or whatever else you have to?

Do they just come in 8-ply or or they available in 10-ply? How are they for ride and road noise.

Not sure about the ply, but I think they only come in 8 ply. As far as the ride they do great. This is my third set on different trucks and there is very little road noise.

Do they handle good at high speed 100+ as I race this truck? What about the noise level at highway speeds 70-80??

You might want to wait for quads new monitor to come out. I've got the race chip in my truck and it's been great!

One more question for you guys. I know alot of you are saying anything above level 3 on the juice will tear up the transmission but the performance level on the bully dog is 90hp right? So would I not be able to use the performance setting with the bully dog since it is more power than level 4 on the edge? If so wouldn't it be beter to get the edge and be able to use 25, 40 and 60 HP settings than one 50 HP setting for good? Thanks for all your advice.

You've got it right. If your either unwilling or unable at this time to do the tranny then the most usable power would come with the Juice and also you gain adjustability with the Attitude and you still have room to grow after you get the tranny upgraded. I hope I don't sound like I'm standing on some high ground here but it's an issue I'm reallllllly clear on since it cost me a transmission. Tim Holt, the tranny guru from Dallas told me exactly what I'd find in my tranny when I tore it down after maybe 8 to 12 runs up to say 90 on level 4 with the Juice. He was absolutely right. The OD clutches were toast. If your going from 3rd into OD and you have what feels like a long second while with your pedal is through the floor,... it's taking your tranny that long to fully lock up (it feels like your in limbo instead of a gear as your going nowhere quick) and then it goes ahead and shifts fully into OD,...that is slippage and your OD clutches are like paper,..their toast in just a few runs. Do it right and you'll love it as it's like getting another 50hp to the ground just by building your tranny. It's what the guys here on the forum call getting the power to the ground. It's the single best bomb or upgrade you can do to your truck. You'll be able to tow better, perform better, better economy,...as the brother says, "it's all good"!
