Before you were stupid and now you are lucky...that is the difference....one two many times over 1500 and your pistons will get nice and rounded along the edges and then the rings come out the exhaust valve...and I know....get some supporting mods and keep the temps in check....on an 04.5 you should be less than 1450 if you are running efficiently. Difference in air temperatures also makes Big changes. DO NOT go over 1500 on the egt's because u really dont want to know what that is in Cylinder temps. You should have ran it again and seen if it did any better. You really need a turbo if ur getting that hot.edit..and get rid of the k&n

What changed between last time and this? Did you add a lift kit and bigger tires, how many miles have you put on the truck since last time at the drags? Where you launching in 4 hi? What was your reaction times? Temps outside do make big differences. 1600 is too hot. Really just a matter of time before damage is done, esp if you make multiple runs without letting it cool down.

Too funny.... If you do some re-searching Tritan had some high temps while dragging and blew his motor.... Just a lesson to be learned...
