New truck, need ideas
New truck, need ideas
Hey y'all, stepped up from my old '99 Cummins to a brand new 2006 (see sig.) I need some ideas for some aftermarket engine performance upgrades. I am thinking I need to do intake / exhaust first, then gauges and then a chip. What do y'all think? And which ones are actually good, and not just a bunch of hype? I am wanting to improve hp, torque and of course fuel economy. I also don't want something that is gonna mess me up with warranty issues should something happen later. I know a chip will, but there are ways around that I think. Mostly my truck is a daily driver, but does work off road when needed. I don't tow daily, but will tow around 10,000 lbs once in awhile. Thanks folks.
If you're concerned about your warranty... you shouldn't do a thing
You might be able to get away with a cat-back exhaust but, that's about it. If you aren't worried.... read on
To see which brands are used a lot by those in the know.... start keeping an eye out on signatures. You'll see many of the same components over and over. Those are what you'll want

First of all congrads on the new truck.
If it was me, Id get the gauges first before anything else.
All I changed on my 05 was the dropin filter. I put an Amsoil in and it works for me.
I also gutted the intake tube to improve the flow.
Also went with the MBRP muffler.
Have had the truck in for service and dealer has said nothing about the gauges being installed.

hey, i would do the basics, chip/programmer,gauges, intake and exhaust, do a full exhaust system and hang on to the stocker, so that way if u have to do warranty work u can take the aftermarket off and put the stocker back on.do a search on chips and programmers and see which one best suits ur need and take it from there, also try changing ur oil over to Royal Purple, i put it in my truck and i love it. hope that helps ya.
