Did you hit 1400 while at WOT or just 1/2 - 3/4 throttle?

Has anyone checked to see how much higher the EGTs are back there? 50*? 100*? 500*?

Don't know. I was holding about 65 mph at roughly 2600 rpm. Couldn't tell you what position the throttle was in.

The temperature between the front cylinders and the rear cylinders is maybe 50 degrees or so. The main reason we recommend installing the probe in the front bank of cylinders is that it does not require any special tools and you can do it easily. If you want to do it in the rear you really need a 90deg drill to do it.

1400 degrees is not that hot on a 600. Stock will usually peter out somwhere in the neighborhood of 1350 on a stock truck. Now the difference is that in most instances a stock truck would not pull up a grade without loosing mph and rpm when towing a big load. So we may be a few degrees higher peak but, on flat ground we will run lower egt's.

I want better mpg, which box would be the best for me the XZT, Standard Box or Racing Box? I do pull a lot so I would only pull in the 60 hp area but when I'm empty I could run it hotter. The truck has great power and like I said I'm after MPG (smoke would be nice also).

Well, I would say that the XZT will give you better MPG and all the Towing Performance that you would need. The Standard will net less MPG for MOST--because of the Power Adjustability! If it is there you are going to want to use it!

I would hit 1500 degrees nothing flat with Crazy Larry.. But wouldn't sustain it for very long just a couple of seconds and then let off...

As I understood the XZT, it is a one-setting box unless you had the Commander. With the Commander you could take advantage of the 3 possible fueling/power positions? YES, you would get better mpg's using one of the 3 settings depending on HOW you used it FOR WHAT/WHEN. I am not familiar with what the 3 power levels of the XZT/Commander combo are, so I cannot really comment regarding using them. Since I already had gauges I just bypassed the Commander/XZT combo and went for the STD. It's 3 ranges re 30-60-100. I can see where the 30 range would be just what's needed for towing and the best of the fuel mileage towing. I think the 60 might not be suited very well for towing, but will find out soon enough as I will be doing some long-range towing this coming weekend. I do not see myself using the 100. It might be there to use, but I am not really a speed/power person on the street. I just wanted a good overall unit/box with a couple power options and maybe a little mpg gain.

I will be driving the Truck Friday to work. Filling her up and getting the results, and then Testing the XZT while pulling a 21' SeaFox to Oregon Inlet and back-----about a 600 mile round Trip! 4500 lbs of boat? You're barely going to feel that! But good luck with your test, I'm curious to see what you come up with.
