new by pass filter test
Hey guys,
I thought I would start a thread about the new bypass filter that I just installed. I know that bypass filters have been discussed before but I thought I would do a test and let everyone here follow along. This filter was sold to me by my oil salesman that I buy my motor and hydraulic oil from. He says it will filter down to 1 micron and he also said that my oil should be very close to the color that it pours from the bottle within a few weeks. Now I drive 102 miles to and from work daily so it should take even less time to super clean my oil. I figure that since my engine only has 1000 miles on it it would be the perfect canidate for a test/filter like this. I changed the oil yesterday and its already turning black. I know that 3rd gens are known for not being able to keep there oil from turning black so it would be great if this filter actually keeps the oil clear. I have posted some pics of the filter. I had to fab up a bracket to mount it. I also had to buy a filler cap for the return. The filter came with the fittings but no oil lines. I had to make them up. Now don't pick on me to much about the bracket I was in a rush to install the filter so I just threw a quick bracket together. It took me about 1/2 hour to build it. It only took about 1.5 hrs to install the filter start to finish. I will post a pic of the oil also so we can compare the oil say once a week. I did pull a sample about 5 mins after I started the truck with the filter on it. The valve on the bottom is a port to pull the sample from. It was super easy!!!
I'll keep ya posted,

looks like the smallest one they make is 3.96 gallon capacity oil pan. is that the one you have? how much did it cost?

That is the one I have. Not sure on the cost. I think it's a little less then $500. I don't think the bill has come in yet. I'll let you know. There is some pretty good info on their web site. Thanks for the link. To be honest it was the 1st time I looked at it.
