I don't intend to buy another VB. I would think someone else running a HTS tranny or VB could chime in here.... I know they sell enough stuff to have a couple customers on this board. By the way, my truck never hunted for gears before the addition of this VB. If it had, maybe this wouldn't be so annoying to me. They said they knew this was an issue on some trucks, so hopefully they will be understanding when I talk to them. A little voice in my head says "no" though.
It seems like this stuff always happens to me! Argh!
Anyone else identify with that feeling?

Anyone else identify with that feeling?dusty will fix it.
At what point did I "make a big deal out of it". I just said that it happened. Asked if it happened to anyone else, and then said I didn't like that it was happening and planned to do something about it.
theres ways around the 2-3-2-3-2 hunt....change shift points is one solution. lots of aftermarket valve body companys did this. It does it worse after the 3rd gear clutches get a little worn. A fresh, built tranny should never do this stuff.
I thought until today that this was an 05+ problem due to the lack of a kickdown cable and DC using an actuator. Guess not....
My DTT box goes in soon. I played with one yesterday...it looks very promising and very neat! They mispelled "enhancer" though..they spelled it "enhanser." its going to bother me. I'll make a sticker to cover it up.
very rarely does my truck do the 2-3-2-3-2 thing. I can almost make it do it when the right speed and throttle position. the 2-3 hunt thing at 30 doesn't exist on my truck anymore....thanks to my DTT builder tuning it himself. This problem does seem to be worse on 06's....one of my buddies' 06's had it BAD in stock form and 3rd gear clutches were fried because of it.

i have a fully built HTS and I haven't noticed it do the hunting for gears i had it happen with my stock tranny a couple times. Toupee i would just give Dusty a call and explain to him whats going on. and for the shipping issue i would have called dusty about that right away he most likely would have traded you the messed up vb for a new one.
With the hot juice w/att. , my NADP tranny shifted fine. When I installed the smarty, it started shifting back and forth.
I assume it has something to do w/ different boxes and down loaders.
If the dtt controller works, let us know. I`m worried about my tran$.

well your not the only one. Im making point. I have alot of $ in my transmission and it does it. sometimes alot and other times not as much. I just dont think they appreciate ppl posting these issues all over the internet but what do I know. they have been good to me so far, so I didnt post the issues on here. dusty has offered to fix the issues but said it would not downshift as fast and some other things would change. a built trans will bring out all the little issues that it does stock. there was ppl who posted on here that it was an actuator that creates the problem. they are not tranny builders and that is not the problem either. the issue still existed using the triple dog or the smarty either one. the problem is across the board not just the hts.
just dont leave mods on the truck when you take it in. like fueling boxes etc. take them off for warranty work guys on here will say oh youre stealing lying whatever. I dont say what I have on mine & the dealer doesnt ask
I wasn't clear earlier I guess. I did contact HTS about my valve body being damaged when it arrived. I even e-mailed them some pictures of the damaged shaft and the damage to the shipping box to prove I didn't damage it myself. Dusty said he could send a new VB if I wanted, but I mentioned to them that I could just use the shaft off of my stock VB and they agreed. So, up to this point I have not had any issues with their c/s.
I just made my earlier comment because I can't see there being a really simple solution to this, but I've been wrong many times in my life and it won't be surprising to me if I'm wrong here.
As far as this being bad p/r for them... I don't agree with that. Every company has issues, and it's never a good thing to hide them. Actually, Dusty was upfront with me on the phone about it, so why would it matter if it was mentioned on here? Besides, these forums are available as a means of information sharing and that is all I was trying to do. Get some information.

Because of your post, I took my truck out today for the first time in about 2 months. I simply can't make mine screw up in any way shape or form, and I tried today. I am running the dreaded Bully Dog low-end fueling too, with CL. I railed on it some today; the trans just loves it..........
Mine shifts 2-3 at about 25 mph under normal driving. Once it shifts, that's it. It will also shift 1-2 at about 15-18 mph under normal throttle and will chirp the tires very often.
Under acceleration, it will be later and will shift much harder. I don't know these exact points.
You are fine posting your questions........and you didn't post complaints. Dusty WILL take care of everything. This I know.
The valve body is complicated and performs many things.
Chris
