LOOKING FOR SUGGESTIONS ON WHAT WORKED FOR YOU IN REGUARDS TO COLD AIR INTAKE,EXAUST, AND COMPUTER CHIPS. I DON'T WANT TO SPEND UNNECESSARY MONEY, WHEN I'M SURE EVERYONE OUT THERE HAS TRIED AT LEAST ONE OF THE ABOVE MENTOINED ITEMS. YOUR INPUT WILL GREATLY BE APPRECIATED.

Get a muffler delete kit and your exhaust sound will greatly improve. The newer trucks like yours have good exhuast on them from the factory.

Lots of boxes and programmers, you have to figure out what you want to do and if you have any warranty left and then research.

I went with cutting my muffler off and running straight pipe, it has a drone, but i got use to it.
I have a K&N air filter, bought it before i found out about this board. if i was to go back and do it again i would go with AFE
The edge juice is a good all around module. I am not into racing or throwing up massive HP/torq #'s. and for the price you cant really beat it.

First, congrads on your new ride.
Iv also got an 05 and the only thing Iv done so far, is replaced the stock muffler with an MBRP and Amsoil dropin filter and Isspro gauges for the EGT and boost.
I dont have any drone with this muffler and the sound level in the cab isnt any louder than stock.

i would look into a triple dog downloader they make real good power on the 04.5 and up and yours being an 05 there is a tune for the triple dog that will work exceptionally well for it. but if you end up getting one you will definently need to look into a good fuel system and somw tranny work
There are lots of options, a lot of them subject to opinion. You could probubly get better input if you state your goals and uses for the truck, as well as if it is a stick or auto. If the members know that info they will be better able to help.
i have a 05 2500 as well and i did the afe intake and a silver line exhaust. i replaced the lift pump with a walbro and an edge juice w/attitude and a ez stacked and did 507 hp 963 tq. you'll have to think about what level you want to run horsepower wise and if you want safe horsepower or just go all out. programmed or adjustable in the cab.

Step 1. EGT gauge. I used the combination EGT/Boost gauge with the replacement A-piller mount from Geno's. Looks stock and it's effective.
2. Buy the Smarty!
3. Either drill holes in the bottom of the stock airbox, install the Whister or buy the AFE stage 2 or something similar.
4. Exhaust... Stay away from the cat back or complete replacement system. They are pricey and don't buy you much unless you go up to a 5 inch system, stacks or duals. Keep the factory down pipe and exhaust pipe and just replace the muffler. I preferred the sound of the magnaflow and went with that but, MBRP also makes a replacement muffler and is a little cheaper. The cat delete pipe (er...test pipe) is also an option.
Once you're done with that, you're on the slippery slope and there's no going back...
You will not be able to resist the temptation to try the Smarty on a higher level... Which leads you to either a new tranny (if you have an Auto) or, new clutch if you have a manual.
... Now it's time for tires
... Pressure box stack, FASS etc...
... an even better clutch or better trans!
... Another set of tires
... New injectors
... TWINS
... STUDS and CAM!

I have the stageII AFE intake and a predator programmer and like the programmer. The intake probably works well it does add the sound to of the turbo, a nice whistle while you drive down the highway. There is lots of programmers and lots of pricing, but my experience with mine is wow does it make the truck nice to drive, just really adds to the driveability and does not seem to take away the what economy there is if you dont enjoy it to much.
