New Dodge owner questions????

Well I didnt think I would ever do it but I sold my 96 F350 that I have had since day 1 and I got an 04 Dodge 2500 (Couldnt beat the price and the fuel economy. So that being said I dont know much about the cummings other than I had a ton of upgrades on my old Ford (chip, tranny, intercooler, lift, intake, exaustbrake,e xaust, and the list goes on). My question to yall is, I want a solid quality intake, a solid quality exaust and a great tunner or chip. I do alot of towing some very heavy but most is the camper or the buggy. I would like to be able to adjust the setting for whatever applaction the I am using. The truck has a 6" lift and 37" tires so I would like to be able to correct the speedo and tranny shift point for the bigger tires. When I had my Ford I got a ton of help from the guys on The Diesel Stop so I am hoping to get some help here from yall as I am new to the Dodge world. Any ideas or help will be greatly appreciated. My only concern is that I dont want to by an inferior product now and have to upgrade it later..

Kurt

My advise is just look at everyones signature and see what they have. Everything that I've done has been good for me so far. I've only had my truck(new to diesel world) since march and I've done all the work myself.

Is it an 04 or 04.5? Look around the turbo and if it has a black plug w/ wires (electronic waste gate) coming of the compressor, ya gots an 04.5.

First of all, welcome to DTR and the "dark side"! The CUMMINS (don't call it "Cummings" or you'll never hear the end of it!) has a lot of options when it comes to performance upgrades. I have an S&B intake system, which really like, but lots of others are also fans of AFE, K&N, etc.. Search around the "Performance" and you'll find lots of opinions on exhausts, fueling boxes, tuners, etc... Just make sure you take care of the exhaust, intake and I recommend gauges before you start to modify the tuning.

Welcome to the Dodge perspective on trucks. If you are looking for some more power and economy have a look at the Smarty, or Smarty Jr. Oh, by the way, “Cummins” has no “g”. Lots of good info on here, keep reading.
