Then it must just be a coincidence but it knocked off .05 off my time...

I went 13.50 with full 1/4mile of 4wd and 13.45 with taking it out of 4wd at 60ft.

you may have had a better reaction time. The lock up will do that for you too.

It may have worked for you but, while under load it shouldn't come out of 4x. Not saying you're full of it... just that 4x shouldn't do that.

I don't think RT has any effect on ET. What is the difference in 60ft in 4X and out of 4X?

Yep, I always get a little clunk at the end of the run. Even if I shift midway down the track, once the foot comes off the go pedal she comes out of 4H

I have a lever and thought I could always feel it come out but maybe not. I think it was Banshee (old king of 1/4 mile handshakers) that said to do it.

It might work with a stick because they get out of the throttle to shift. It doesn't matter if you have the push button or lever system, the 4wd doesn't actually disengage until the load is removed.

I always left mine in 4wd the whole time. I was always afraid it would not fully disengage and I would tear some of the teeth off of the coupler. I am forever looking for another 1/10 sec. but I dont want to jeopardize my drivetrain intentionally.

exactly.

I dont know why people bother? First of all the t-case isnt designed for (and wont) completely disengage under that much load. Same goes for the front axle disconnect. You are just going in a straight line so there is not going to be any binding anyway.

But then again I have that silly push button 4wd so I can press it halfway down the track all I want and it will still just blink at me. \

No front axle disconnect on these trucks.

There might not be any real binding, but there is a lot more friction in 4wd. Due to the heavy front end and light rear end, it's almost impossible to get all 4 tires to be the exact same size while going down the track. You can run more air in the fronts and measure them out to be the same, but all that changes once you launch and the weight shifts to the rear.
