Nelson 86108M vs 86131M?

Hey Guys,

Does anybody use the Nelson 86108M or is pretty much everyone using the 86131M? The flow seems like its sufficent for our motor, and am looking for the quieter option. I don't have anything but a pipe right now, and don't plan on putting a cat back on....one thing I will probably do in the future is a Smarty JR (and gauges, of course). So will the 86108M (1600 CFM @ 3") still be acceptable if that power up is as far as I go?

Thanks!
Scott

I have the 51" and it has a wide open cavity in the center about 10" long and it sounded a little like a tin trashcan til I packed the chambers and wrapped it with fiberglass and another sheetmetal cover. I wouldn't use another one. I've always wondered if the 41" is like the 51" but without the open cavity in the center, between the chambers. Craig

Actually these numbers are both 51's. one (86108) has a baffle and flows a little less at high pressure and is presumably quieter, the other (86131) is a straight through design...do you know which one of those you had?

riffman, i have the 51 x5inch nelson vs a magnaflow 40, the 40 was quicker in terms of spool up,but the nelson is much nicer for every day driving ,seems to suite the stock tubo very nicely.

Mine is the 86131. After all that work, it was every bit as quiet as stock inside with a deeper tone outside but then I changed the turbo and got the 2k drone. I added a 4" id x 5" od x 30" L glasspack right behind the DP and stopped the drone. If I ever change from stock exh. again, I will look for a long, large diameter glasspacks cuz that's what I've always ended up with after trying any other kind. Craig
