I was thinking about taking the stock plastic grille off and spray painting it with chrome spray paint just for poops and grins, now how ... do you get those darn tabs off, or how do you take the thing out...?

Yeah I've had a few cocktails.......

That Chrome spray paint doesn't look very good. I actually did just the opposite thing you did when I bought a brand new truck...it came with a chrome grill, and 3 days after buying it I pulled out and painted it black. It came out great, but I don't know about goiong chrome from black. I think aftermarket grills aren't all that much to buy...look into one of those in chrome.

That chrome paint stinks! It might look good for a little while. But leave it in the sun for a few weeks, or the cold and it starts to "fog" and crack and turn kinda yellow.

I got a pop in "chrome" looking plastic one for like 50 bucks. Looks good in the truck but really isn't worth much at all. I can't remember where I got it but you could look around and probably find some. I would reccomed that over spray paint. Or, you could do what I've done a few time, drink a few more beers and try it out, in the morning if you don't like it blame it on the beer lol .

I'll tell you how to take the grill off.

You can see the male chrome ends that plug in/through the grill around the perimeter. Just stick a small screwdriver between the chrome and black on the side where the male end is tipped and then you can push the male side back through

I'll also tell you to test the paint on something else before you do it, so you don't waste a grill.

would not use chrome spray paint I think there is 99% chance it would look cheasy. I have never seen chrome spray paint that look good. I guess as long as you took the aproach it if looked like crap you would by a new grill go for it.

also if you wanted to actually paint it with good paint I would say go for it. I have never seen a good chome solution though but you could choose a cool color and actually paint it. you would have to have a gun and a little knowledge to do a good job though. It is hard to rattle can to perfection.

I think he's just talking about the black inserts in the grill. Not the shell....

If you paint it, at least try painting it body color instead of that cheesy chrome paint.....
