My buddy just called me and said he was pullin his snowmobile trailer with two sleds in it, it weighs about 7000. his truck is completly stock except for smarty jr. He was on lvl2 on the original programming (tow) 70hp. He was goin about 80mph when he said the truck started shuttering and he heard a "pop" sound and saw black smoke, now the turbo is whiny in high boost and when he gets up to 80 it shudders real bad. any suggestions? he doesnt have gauges
he's gonna try that in a minute. I told him check the IC boots, also check and see if the turbo is bleeding oil. So we'll see what he finds when he calls me back. I also thought it might be his stock clutch.
Pull the filter, make sure that it did not suck the filter into the inlet. Look at the intercooler boots, and the intercooler. I know that the 05's had some plastic IC's, I don't think that the 06's did.
I'd tell him to take it easy, if something went boom with the turbo, it can get sucked into the head, and bye bye pistons...

take the air intake pipe off the turbo inlet and check to see if the wheel is touching the compressor housing. If your buddy is inexperienced, make sure he checks it with the motor off LOL

Seriously, if it is shifting OK and the clutch is engaging OK, I would be looking elsewhere. Black smoke is a sign of lack of air.
