Have you tried a drive shaft builder? Did yours break? If it did I bet they could make a stronger one

Hey that driveline builder in Boise is good (or at least they were when I dealt with them). Jims drive train i think. I just called a buddy that lives in Nampa that does tranny work and builds custom converters and he uses Jims all the time.

Dodgeparts.com shows them for me....

Mechanical Catalog - 2004 - Dodge - Ram 2500
Front drive axle, Drive axles, Propeller shaft, Drive shaft, Drive shaft, ram 2500, 3500, 5.9l diesel, 8.0l, auto trans - american 9.25 - AMERICAN 9.25 $172.85

Because dodgeparts.com doesn't ship to Canada, I just make up a cart, print it off and take it to my dealer and he gives me comparable prices, so I am sure your local dealer should be able to do the same.

Just time...the joints are dry or damaged...it vibrates a little at high speeds in 4 wheel drive under load.

I don't want it to snap in my forthcoming 4x4 boosted launches w/ 800 hp. ;-)

Call Jims and see what they charge for a rebuild and rebalance.

What about up-sizing the joints with all that power? I am getting a new shaft for piece of mind with my lift, but the new one is not only longer but upgraded to 1350 size joints and made greaseable. It is more $$, but in my opinion it is worth the confidence it brings. I think I paid about 350 shipped. Just a thought.

172 including 6 joints...is hard to beat. 6 joints run almost $90 at my cost.

I think the OEM one is strong enough..but where did you get the "larger one" from?

Bought a stock one last year at the dealer as my centering ball was boffed. There are 3 u-joints on mine. and they are tiny little POC that are gone already. $295 or so canuck bucks. Next time I get a custom one with bigger u-joints ... I got quoted 350 or so last time....I think Gus'03 gave me the contact...I might have erased that PM. CQ go bigger...ya won't regret it. ks

I think I paid 196+17 to ship.
Auto's are about 15 bucks less usually since the joints are a hair smaller.

News news news!

Buy a shaft for a 05-07 if you have a 03--4.5...the top 2 of the 3 joints are 1350's...only the one by the axle is still a 1330!

Same price give or take...and 2/3 of the shaft is stronger!

The other way...to do all 1350's...and change the yokes is closer to $500.

I will just put a small shaft loop or ring by the front one!
