"Must have" upgrades
"Must have" upgrades
I'm coming from a Ford F250 PSD 7.3L and planning to order a Cummins 325/600 3500 QC SB 4x4 that will be a daily driver plus haul my 10klb 5er about 5x per year. What, if any, upgrades/goodies should I be considering. I already am planning to get a Rhino liner, Pullrite Superglide hitch, Prodigy brake controller, WAGG step bars (wheel-to-wheel), and possibly a roll-top bed cover (not sure which).
Do I need gauges with a stock truck? How about the stock shocks? Do I need Ranchos like with my Ford? Anything else major that I'm missing?
Thanks,
Neil

Yeah, I might go for Bilsteins this time. I have Rancho 9000s on my F250 and they're way better than stock, but it's a pain to adjust them. Any idea when the Bilsteins will be available?

I just called Bilstein and my buddy is at lunch will call back in a bit.
NJMurvin, would your truck be available for fitment?
They would need it for a while? Maybe a week to 10 days....Not sure how long or if they need a truck.....
I post something when I get some more info.
NJMurvin You could be the first.

Gary C,
That might be a problem since I haven't ordered the truck yet. Even so, 10 days is a long time to be without a vehicle and Poway is a good 3hrs from me. I'll probably either wait or go with another set of Ranchos (assuming they have ones that fit).

NJMurvin,
The need for gauges will depend on the weights you tow and the inclines you intend to attack etc. I feel they are a good addittion even if you're not going to add extra HP thru the use of a programmer or plug in module.
Other items to consider are air intakes, more flow lower EGT and $$ savings over throw away filters, exhaust for lower egts quicker spoll up and maybe even a little MPG improvement on occassion. Call us if you have any questions etc.

Just got one of these Cool-down timers today, haven't installed it yet but it sounds like it's worth the $70.

I hate to admit it but I have not been following the auto to close since I'm a one-way SOB and have a 6-speed.
As far as I know the 03's are not approved but the 04's are approved for auto's. I don't believe that there is an 'official' answer out about the new '600.'
If nothing else put an exhaust brake on, if you somehow toast your tanny but in one of those upgraded bomb proof ones and forget it.
