Muffler Delete
what i'm referring to is WHO dislikes this mod...
The QC owners like it at first and then seem to change out the straight pipe with a high flow muffler...
Megacab owners have the resonator and like the mod and are happy...

I have had the delete for approx 6 mnths and love it.
But then I am the kind of guy that opens the rear slider, and turns the radio off just to listen to my Cummins breathe as we drive past a divider wall etc - especially with the trailer loaded with camping gear and the dirt bikes.
It is a cheap enough mod that if you do not enjoy it you can revers it pretty painlessly

I love mine, and my wife likes it too! It's got a good deep throaty tone when you give it fuel, and quiets down at cruising speeds (55 - 70)
. I got the muffler delete from Geno's and removed the muffler & left the cat in for Johny law.

Same here!! I got my muffler delete from Geno's and love it. I also left the cat good sound with no drone!
This is the criteria for exhaust system inspection from Texas DPS website.
"20.15 Exhaust System. Every motor vehicle shall at all times be equipped with muffler in good working order and in constant operation.
Muffler defined: Muffler is a device consisting of a series of chambers or baffle plates or other mechanical design for the purpose of receiving exhaust gas from an internal combustion engine and/or turbine wheels for the purpose of receiving exhaust gas from a diesel engine, both of which are effective in reducing noise."

I love mine had for about 8 months now. If u open it up its sounds real good but if u stay out of it its almost back to stock. The first thing I noticed was a little more black smoke comes out.
I had my wife drive it by the house so i could here it and love that sound. (she says i was a dork for having her do this)
I've towed with mine and love sound while towing. I have mega cab which has resnator added and I think this helps sound.
U can it a little in cab if u open it up but not bad @ all.

My muffler had an "accident" with about 500 miles on my truck. I love the sound. I also pull a 28' 5th wheel and I don't hear drone. The only thing is the neighbors complained at first when I would fire my truck at 4
o am! (they got use to it though!!)

I have had mine installed for right around 12K, still sounds good, both empty and towing. Nice throaty sound. Since I have a Mega, the resonator probably helps out the sound some. No matter whether you have a muffler or not, there will always be a drone or rumble at a given speed towing, goes with the territory of the load. Every truck is similar, slightly different, etc but I think ALL sound good w/o the muffler. You should hear one when the exhause brake is on - AWESOME ROAR.
Somewhere in the TEXAS definitions of what qualifies a a muffler a turbocharger is listed. That discussion and reference is in one of the posts regarding this subject on this site. Do a search, you will find it I'm sure - maybe someone here knows where it is or has a ref to Texas code. We do not have inspections in my part of NM so pretty much anything goes.

I got mine from Geno's and love the deeper tone it added. After I installed it I had the wife come out to listen and hit the go pedal for me to listen. She caught me by surprise when she said "That's what a diesel should sound like". She gave her thumbs up.
