mp8

Would a MP8 be beneficial for my set up? If so what settings are best for the mp8 while running the smarty? Would it net me anymore HP?

Phil R, ran on Sat and has the TNT/R stacked with a MP-8. I dont think that the MP-8 gained him much.

JP, has one that I think is for sale...might be sold...might want to ask him. I guess it couldnt hurt to try it, and if it dont work then you can sell it pretty easily. His name is jlibert. Send him a PM and he can let you know.

My power puck gained me 52hp over tnt set on kill on sat. Same basic thing tey both do pressure only but the mp8 is more adjustable. I figure with your setup you would benefit even more than I did with more pressure. I gained 52hp with it on the low setting, the high setting only gave me 2hp more than the low setting because my cp3 couldn't keep up and the rail drained down to 14,000 from 26.500psi.

I think TNT-R is pushing the limits of your stage 2 pump with your injectors. An MP-8 might just drain it faster without giving extra power. But for a tuner, it's pretty cheap and fun to play with. Definitely worth trying! Plus you'll have it for when you upgrade to duals or stage 3.

When I dynoed my truck, the first run was with the MP-8 off, second and third runs were 25% and about 75% MP-8. While there was no difference in dyno power, the torque converter was slipping more with each dialup. I'll dyno again when I get a lockup switch done and get a better comparison. Seat of the pants gives a better throttle response and feels slightly more powerful with the MP-8 cranked on the street.

I let a guy use it at the dyno on saturday. i think he gained 40 hp with it on a stock cp3 with TNT. I haven't even tried the mp8 on my own truck yet Everyone else seems to have good luck with them.

My last dyno meet my truck dyno'd

464 HP w/Smarty on 9, MP8 turned to 0 %

506 HP.................MP8 turned to 50 %

532 HP..................MP8 turned to 100%

FWIW. I definately think the MP8 helps add power.....at least in certain applications/tunes.

I still have the old 3.11 version, I think. I can't change the settings and don't want to. If it ain't broke I don't want to fix it.

The TNT didn't do well on mine, so I will say that since the 4.2 is most comparable to the TNT powerwise, I did feel a noticeable difference with the MP-8 on and the Smarty on SW-7. I think it will help you with some added pressure.

higher rail pressure = more efficient burn = more power

The MP-8 definitely makes a difference. Regardless of the RP setting on the Smarty, the MP-8 enables adjustable RP on the fly, and adds to the RP. You can not only see the gauge move up or down, you can hear it and feel it in the seat of you pants.

The most RP I can get out of the Smarty is around 25K. Add in the MP-8 and that can hump to 29K so, it definitely does something.

I think the mods the trucks has plays a part in how the MP-8 can help.
