more clutch issues
I always take off in 2nd gear. Peter at Southbend told me the 3250 DD/12 CB is the most street friendly performance clutch he makes. I am hoping he would have told me that I need to be taking off in granny all the time. I got to say, I never would have bought a clutch that could not handle 2nd gear take-offs.
It definitely does not engage & shift as easy as the stocker. I had a single ceramic from Valair before this clutch ($500 delivered). It held power w/no worries, but drive-ability was harsh. It was a 2x4 (so no low range), and reversing with the trailer (or w/o it) was so beyond annoying. I am not bagging on Valair at all, I understand they are making dd's now.

I have a 3600DD SBC. I agree on the previous post... before you try 1st or reverse slip it in 3rd. Also letting off the brake helps even more. I also take off in 2nd and even 3rd hard if I launch it with no problems. just dont side step the clutch in 4wd, slip it on out or you can shear a mainshaft or inputshaft
ok the hole 1st and reverse i can deal with i just wanted to make sure it wasnt just mine. The thing that bothers me is the slip and howlwhen taking off and down shifting it 5th. I know alot of guys dont recemend the hole 2nd gear start but my truck also has 4.10's for gears in it also. I have had 2 other 3600dd clutches from them that i had problems withand none of them had this problem. it did it real bad yesterday i was takeing off in 1st on a steep hill and no matter what i did it would howl at me i just dont think plowing this coming winter is going to be friendly to it. Also if it is the clutch slipping who knows how long tho's discs will last if they keep getting burned.
