mods vs warranty
mods vs warranty
I've got a 2003 CTD 4x4 with about 30 months of basic DC warranty left plus the 5/100k Cummins warranty.
How do DC and Cummins look at mods like air intakes, exhaust, gauges, etc? Will they try to weasel out of any warranty claims due to the mods? I'd assume so.
I don't plan any mods for quite some time, so maybe I'm better off waiting till the basic 3/36 DC expires? I don't want to abuse or beat the truck, rather eventually would like to bump power and fuel milage...nothing radical.

It really depends on your dealer. Ive heard of some being cool even with fueling boxes, and others trying to void your warranty for a straight pipe.
Generally it seems the most you can get away with is exhaust, intake and gauges.
If you tryn get away with to much though be prepared to become your own warranty station.
You might try doing a search on warranties, theres ALOT of different opinions and experiences that might make your decision easier.

My dealer is fine with intakes, and exhaust... but not boxes. I think you just need to aske the service writer what you can get away with to be on the safe side.

Luckily my sister is my service manager. As long as the mods do not cause the problem you're covered. If they do there policy is to give the owner the opportunity to pay for the damage, and not to blacklist the truck.
