On my second Mercury Gran Marquis.4.6 v8 all bells and whistles. 25/26 mpg at 70 or so. Quad has a mileage box that seems popular with a average 7 to 8 percent increase in fuel mileage and its not huge bucks.

I get 1-3 MPG using the EZ. TST sucks for mileage and I leave it off except for kills. I've tried a lot of different "power enhancers," and a lot of different combinations, but I've always gotten the best mileage with a pressure box. I'm playing around with a Diablosport Predator right now so we'll see how that goes.

I managed to do the right things to get my overhead up near 24. Which means I might see 18.5-19 when I actually calculate it!

I was very gratified to find out my oil change place gets two kinds of Rotella! The older stuff for up to 05 and the newer low emission stuff for 06 and up.

Gives me a warm fuzzy feeling!

i just put the triple dog into mine and I also am getting overhead at around 24.. why do you think it would be 19 if calculated... I am getting around 750 miles to the tank.. the makes around 22 mpg. which brings me to something weird with mine... once my needle hits its little stop bar past "E", I still have 80 miles left in it.. why is it so off?

If you have a 4x4 manual locking hubs are a good way to gain 1-3 extra mpg. Looks costly up front but it pays for itself easily with reduced maintinence and fuel savings.

Once you have the truck and have it licensed and have paid the taxes and have the mods, the running costs aren't that much more than most vehicles and in some cases less... especially when you factor in the reliability factor of these big CTDs...

Obviously the beater route can work for some people, but **** why did I spend close to $40k on a truck? driving a worn out, tiny, old tech relatively unsafe and possibly unreliable import car wasn't one of them, that's for sure...

Of course if you drive massive miles each year, and you don't need the truck for work, you better be making a nice salary...

My Corolla is a 99, with 110K miles and 5 speed 4 cyl. That is hardly old tech or worn out. Just saying it is not a bad route if you can find a good deal on a beater. Much cheaper to operate if you get a reliable one. Why not keep unnecessary miles off my $40K truck and keep the resale up and the maintenance down while I'm at it. Don't get me wrong, I am not afraid to use the thing, that is why I bought and will always own a truck - however, I do not have a need for a truck daily like a lot of people - so why not have a cheaper mode of transportation?

----sorry, back to topic, I absolutley agree with all 11 points that RocketJohn made in the remainder of his post..

Very simple.

Forget the improvements to fuel economy and start making your own fuel.

Nothing wrong with saving your Ram and driving a 40mpg toyota to do the daily things but there's a lot of guys on here these Ram trucks are their only mode of transportation. And most of them would much rather drive one of these Rams than anything else so you just try to optimize what you can get out of your chosen/prefered mode of transport. So what is wrong with that? I don't think this is a thread by someone going broke pumping fuel in their truck it just sounds like someone wanting to get good bang for their fuel bucks in a Ram..
