Unhappy Mbrp Too Loud

Installed my MBRP muffler and cat pipe yesterday. It is too loud to suit me. Maybe I'd get used to it just drivin' around, but pulling my camper, it's not gonna work. I'm gonna try an exhaust tip for starters to get it out past the box further, but I'm not banking on that working. The noise seems to be coming from right where the muffler itself is located. Has anyone experimented with different tips - like comparing one that goes straight out vs. a turn down style? If the tip doesn't work, I will have to figure out how to approach the problem. I was thinking about just adding another straight through muffler in line with the MBRP. Anyone try this?

Taking the cat out can cause a lot of the noise issue, you can put a resonater in there as well, that seems to help some.

You should take the muffler out and put a 6" tip on it. Hook to the biggest thing you can find and pull it around for as long as you can stand it.

Then when you go back to your current set up you will realize how quiet it is.

But on a serious note you could put the cat back in and take the muffler out and see how you like it, or maybe leave the muffler and put the cat back in. That away you can try something that may work with out spendin anymore money.

Mine became toooo loud and droney after a few months, so I took the MBRP muffler tip off and it became noticeably quieter.

I think if you put your cat back on you'll love it. I have a resonator in the garage but I really love the sound of the cat/muffler combo. I did the test pipe as well and it was way way to loud. I was going to try and take the cat off, put the resonator on, but too much work. I am holdin gonto the resontor and will put it on when I have kids cause I do think it's a bit loud that they'll care.

I have a small straight through 4" Donaldson that I put on when I know I'm going to be towing alot.....like summer. It is only 27 " long and with the MBRP it is quieter than stock at idling and about the same at WOT but more of a rumble sound. ks
