map sensor

Can you get one that allows for more boost without turning off the fuel?

you can mod the wiring going to the sensor to clip the voltage with a zener diode, or get a fueling box that has a boost fooler to trick the ecm [some do it with a clip, and some re-map what the ecm see's giving you more fuel with less boost]

So is that what the guys who run twin turbo's do, use a diode on the wire?

the diode trick seems to be more popular over in the ford camp [they use a 4.6v zener iirc] but the twin guys most all have fueling boxes and they pretty much all [fueling boxes] have the boost foolers built in. and if it is a mechanical injection [12v engines] they don't have the map sensors to deal with.

if the fueling box is re-mapping the boost signal, it will give you more fuel down low. ie. map sensor is reading about 10psi boost, that signal will go into the fueling box, and the fueling box will output a higher signal to read say 20psi to the ecm, so more air = more fuel. now on the other end, the map may be reading 35-40 psi boost, but again the signal goes to the fueling box, gets re-mapped and the output to the ecm is like 22-24psi boost, so the ecm thinks everything is normal, while it is better than normal

now, that is my understanding on how the re-mapping in the fueling boxes goes on, and i may be wrong, and if i am, someone feel free to correct me...

you got it nick. you just described Ramifier and Volumizer boost fooling. ECM thinks there is more boost than there really is so you get stronger fueling. depending on how aggressive the curve is, you can get a puff of black smoke before the turbo spools up. Thats what I see on the V box.

From: I'll look into that!
I wonder if that is how the BD race anti defueling device works?
