i plan to install my magnaflow muffler tomorrow

which way will be quieter? fish mouths open toward the engine or closed toward the engine?

i can see the closed end toward the motor creating less backpressure and flowing more air but will it be louder

will the open end toward the motor cause more pressure and thus more drone?
or will it capture some of the sound and make it quieter

From my personal experience, if you place the "open fish mouths" toward the motor, it will be quieter because the exhaust gases actually go into the "mouths".

If you place the "open mouths" facing the rear axle then it will be louder because the exhaust gases flow over them.

that was my thinking also

this is my first diesel exhaust install, others have all been gas, it didn't seem to matter on my sbc which direction they went

one was a little raspier and didn't sound as good though
