magna flow installed, i like it
magna flow installed, i like it
got around to installing my magnaflow muffler today
got it about 6 months old from a buddy with an 03 ctd
its a 5x9 inch oval, 14 inch, 4 inch straight through race version
i lengthened the downward section of the factory pipe to make up the difference in the offset from the factory muff and welded in new pipe in front of the magnaflow, i kept my factory tailpipe and the ss tip i welded on last year

i haven't had it out on the road yet as it is raining like a cow pis... on a flat rock here
in the driveway it definitely has a deeper throb to it and sounds like there is a real motor under the hood
i was hoping to get my AEM installed today also but UPS only had the new cell phone on board today oh well maybe tomorrow

i am not the guru of exhaust systems, but since our diesels don't need backpressure i would imagine a straight pipe would be better, but the magnaflow can't possible flow much less air than a straight pipe
it was attached to an old exhaust when i picked it up, i assumed it had fish mouth holes in it, after i got the old exhaust off i discovered it is a straight pipe with 1/8" or less perforations in it, basically a straight pipe
if i removed the kitty it might be better but we have emmission checks in colorado and i tow in CA once in a while so i am going to leave it
i would bet you couldn't tell the difference on a dyno or in elapsed times

nice rumble at take off from the lite, nice tone when downshifting on the hwy
almost invisible at 65 in od
love it so far, just exactly what i was looking for, sounds like i modified the truck without destroying the quiet ride i like on the hwy

. That airbox will complement the muffler nicely
