The PML pan added 2 quarts to my 48RE.
7 quarts out after dropping stock pan, 9 quarts in the PML.
...yes, that's topping it off only after heating it up.

Thumbs up Re: Mag Hytec or PML DD Tranny pan?

You can go wrong with Mag tech, nice quality, but if the other is $100 cheaper than the list $269 magtech I consider if in aluium or mag.

I have a magtech since my first transmission fluid change. Grat Product. Temperature guage in the pan never moves off 140F except backing up in 4x4, or after 1/2 hour line at the border to Canada. Then it climb 200F plus

So, with the PML pan.....you get 2 extra quarts of tranny fluid, right? and with the Mag Hytec....dont you get 4?

Seems they both will offer the place to mount the trans gauge probe, but wouldn't the mag Hytec run cooler? IN this case it would seem MORE is BETTER.

Boss Hoss,

Does the ATS one hold 5 quarts more fluid than stock?

Yes it does and it is several tines heavier than the stock pan--very heavy duty!

Boss,

What part of the metroplex you at? I am in the Garland area. Can I ask how much you paid for the ATS? Did you order it or go through a local dealer? Do they have a website? Do you know if ATS offers Diff Covers too? I have never heard of them before you mentioned them. Thanks for your help.......and everybody else's input too.

I am in the Grapevine -- Colleyville area, the pan was about 270.00 installed. ATS is one of the leaders in the high performance transmission area. Have done buisness with them for years and yes they have a web site http://www.atsdieselperformance.com/...lumcovers.asp.

My truck will be at Mikes Off Road in Haltom city this morning early probably until after lunch if you want to see what it looks like.

We put a PML bare aluminum tranny pan on my buddy 04.5.

Price was a issue for him, and it fit perfectly. Actually with the bare aluminum piece, it blends in with the rest of the tranny, looks like it was factory.

TexasCTD,

Yes and no at the same time. The extra capacity will keep the tranny from reaching whatever the max temp is a little longer on say a good uphill tow, but the down side is it will also make the cooler work harder to cool the fluid back down to the pre up hill tow temp. The PML's have down a little research to see what the best "extra fluid" amount is to get the best cooling overall. What I am saying is that too much fluid is actually not a benefit, it takes longer to cool off. Getting the RIGHT amount of fluid is way more important to cooling than adding too much which actually holds the heat in and keeps the average temp higher especially in hilly terrain where you are going up and down over and over.
