I'm often beating around on the streets with TE set to 5 and power to 3. In this mode, I can easily grab 50 PSI of boost (KSB1B), and break all 6 tires loose on dry pavement in 4 wheel drive.
There are no injectors or boxes out there that can offer anywhere near that level of bottom side power. Will you break your truck with TE set to 9 and power set to 9? If you're not setup for it, yes. But if you use common sense, put the settings where your truck can hack it, you'll be fine. And there are settings where everyones truck can hack it. PL1, TE1 is mild setting that offers a nice kick in the pants, and improves highway economy (I got 1.5 mpg on our test truck).
