Lot Of Tranny ?’s

PRELIMINARY INFO / SPECIFICATIONS
• ’06 CTD 65K,
• DTT “Tow series” valve body / torque converter
• Standard billet stuff, input shaft, servo, accumulator, flex plate, strut, anchor
• Annulus retention ring
• Original Stock linings
• Did my own tranny upgrade at 15K
• Last time I pulled the pan was 30 k ago
• Not huge HP, Bully dog, boost fuller, cold air, exhaust
• Exceptionally hard on stuff my old man says I am into “wreck reation”
• Planning on bumping up to the 600 HP areana
• Pull A 15K # trailer all over

BRASS SHAVINGS
When I pulled my pan I found about 20 or so brass colored shavings, rectangular 1/16” x 1/8” or slightly larger, some flat, some curled up. Presumably thrust washer.
1) Is this typical?
2) If not what is the likely cause?
3) Time to tear down and repace?
4) What problems will I encounter if I continue to run it, but pull the pan ever 5K to keep an eye on it?

LINING MATERIAL
Found black material about the size of a broken off pencil lead. Presumably front band lining. Every time I pull the pan the band is way out of adjustment. I feel that the added PSI is either stretching the stock band, wearing out the lining, or both.
5) Comments on my theory?
6) Have I / Will I score my drum if I continue to run?
7) Other problems that my arise if I continue to run?
8) Likely I will end up walking ?

DIY TANNY
I plan on keeping the truck forever, and I like wrenching on it, and knowing how things operate. I did my last tranny upgrade which went well with the exception of the fact that here I am 50k later with problems. I would like to know how to do my own tranny stuff, but I am concerned that as the miles pile on, case inspections, measurements, specialty tools / know how, may get beyond my abilities. Also you know how failures go. 110 degrees out in the middle of the desert, with the wife and kids on board, just outta cel service and kabam.

9) Comments on DIY tranny service?
