Looking for pics of stainless rocker panel molding on silver truck

I am thinking about buying some rocker panel moldings to help protect the rocker panels on my truck. Just curious if anyone has the stainless panels on a silver truck so i can get an idea of what they would look like, thanks.

I have a truck in the yard here with that setup, and it looks good.

On a darker truck, they look gaudy as heck, but on a silver one, they blend nicely.

Thanks very much for the photo, just what i was looking for. I like the way it looks, very suttle and not a very big contrast and not to gaudy looking. Thanks again.

Your welcome. Glad I could help. I didn't go with the full width rocker panel because I wanted to keep the black trim on the bottom of doors to break up the silver on the truck. It looks great all cleaned up as well.

Is that the 6" version or the 8" version. Looks like it is 6" but just wanted to check, thanks
One more question, is the entire back side of the panels sticky 3m tape or does it just have a couple of strips on 3m tape on the top and bottom? Does alot of crap, like dirt, salt ect get stuck in behind them or is it a pretty tight seal between them and the actual rocker panel? Thanks

I've been thinking about putting a set of the stainless rocker cover on too.

My truck is a two tone - Atlantic Blue over the Silver at the bottom. I figured on getting the 8-1/2" tall ones made by Wilmore. They'd cover more of the silver and probably blend in real well with a little of the silver paint showing anyway.

As far as the Wilmore ones I have seen, they are covered/backed entirely with the the 3M adhesive tape.

They are covered completely with 3M tape. I have not had any problems with anything getting down behind them. As long as you get it stuck to truck good nothing can get behind. I believe mine is the 6" version but would have to measure it to make certain.

augustfirst.

Now that looks very fine. Looks like the 8-1/2 wide, catches that top line and gives a nice dimension. Excellent.

Did you heat them up before you installed them? Some people apply them heated up first. Others heat them some with a hair dryer rather than a heat gun after putting them on. Some just put them on. What did you use to prep the surface? I was thinking about denatured alcohol, it should clean off any wax, etc. I believe 3M makes something for surface cleaning also, saw it but can't remember what it contained.

and by the way, excellent first post, welcome!!!

3M makes a wax and adhesive remover, comes in a black can, dump some on a rag, and wipe the offending surface. Pretty potent stuff, and not overly expensive. I use it on bare metal when building projects that have to be painted, takes the oils and cutting residue off with no problems.
