The only logical improvement would be an electrical/mechanical actuated locker. .

The logical would be to have Dodge install what the POWER WAGON has -TracRite EL. The Controls are placed right below the stereo face.

Does anyone know if this is an option for the Cummins when you buy a new truck?

mine will spin both rears on dry with a hard start and will spin both rears on wet or snowy ground when moving at speed, but i can get one tire fire when pulling into my driveway when i have ice on the ground before my driveway... i wonder if the brake shoes in the differential case for the helical gears could be preloaded a bit somehow to make it lock better from a stand still with very low traction???

Power wagon locker wont work

the 9.25 CTD and the 9.25 POWER WAGON are two differnt birds. Cant just "drop in" the locker to existing axle- housing different and mounting of electronic stuff is different. Would have to get the PW axle and try a complete swap but there are some other major mods. But I have got good feedback about the Eaton. Just a few minor mods inside housing. A guy with Eaton says they have no complaints from any Dodge applications. I talked to a performance guy says they arent to hard to do-fairly easy and great results. I am ordering it in a couple weeks.

The most detailed mod is a 1/8" grinding mod inside the housing. As a tech guy from Randy's Ring and Pinion says there is detailed directions showing where to grind to add clearance. Also I have an e-mail to a tech guy at Eaton asking for more detail before I order. I will let you know what all you have to do-just give me a few weeks.

When I e-mailed AAM they told me there were front and rear lockers available through local AAM dealers, of which there were two Inland Truck Parts stores within 40 miles of me, and there were other options available other than the stock "limited slip" , which by the way mine seems to work "ok" but it it is not as good as my Durango's LS. I still think that I am going to wait for ARB.

That doesn't seem too likely since no one on any site has posted about being able to find such.

Find what, ARB lockers? You can get one for the front and they are planning to build one for the 1150 rear at some point in the next year. I speak with ARB pretty regularly.

It never ceases to amaze me how instead of just e-mailin AAM, a person would basicly call me a liar because "no one has posted about being able to find such" ! I took the time to ask them if anything was available for the Dodge Diesel 2500 3500 pickups and they listed off the products one could purchace. I then asked from who and after telling them wher I lived they named off two places near me, both being Inland Truck Parts stores. At the time ARB said they were not going to build because of low demand so I wanted an alternative. Also on the other site there are people getting e-lockers from Randys and they are grinding a little off the housing to get them to fit. I believe these are GM units with instructions on how to make them fit a Dodge.

First off, I never called you a liar, so calm down. I'm sure your just stating what your were TOLD. However, several others claimed to have talked with AAM on several sites and they dont make a LOCKER for the 11.5 AAM. This topic was about LOCKERS not LSDs by the way. They COULD make one, but so far it seems they haven't. There are I'm sure THOUSANDS of people interested and to my knowledge no one has been able to get an AAM produced locker. Many have gone to Randy's Ring and Pinion for lockers and diffs but they have stated there are no LOCKERS for the 11.5 AAM axle from ANYONE, expecially AAM themselves. There is an AAM electronic locker for the AAM 9.5 axle for the Power Wagon but everyone who has looked into it says it's a complete axle swap, not a drop in to the open or LSD carrier. Now you go and get the part number for the AAM LOCKERS at your local shop and get back to us.

What I dont understand is why they wouldnt make a locker for the 11.5 when they have one for the 10.5. It seems that it wouldnt be to hard. And if they think there is no demand I would have to disagree. I bet they could sell 5 to my imediate family right now. 3 -'03's / 2-'04's

Who knows how they decide if it's justified or not, but tooling up for a new product is never cheap. They would want to feel confident they are going to sell so many thousands to recoup their costs and make a profit. If they are already producing at capacity, then they really have no incentive to make any new products also.

I read thru the post and lost track on what everyone was Edit over. Anyways the to options that I had when I was planing to put lockers in the front was an air locker and elec locker. I plan to leave the rear alone cause it has a good setup as it is. Pretty much the faster u step on it the faster the 2 gears go togeather and lock, so there is no point in wasteing money on lockers. Imo dodge has the best non locker rearend made from factory todate.
