Thought I'd share a project I've been working on. I know this is NOT for everyone. I don't expect everyone to agree that cutting up a fine Italian woodgrain plastic console is cool
I looked up the cost of one before I started ( just in case ) and you wouldn't believe what they cost !
Anyway...It took forever sitting in the truck over days trying to figure out how, what and where to put the shifter. The options are definitely limited. I needed to have it comfortable in my hand, look as though it belong there and SOLID ! I also wanted to be able to install and remove the console at will without a big hassle.
So, this is what I came up with. A hack saw blade to the console...A few piece of SS boxed, installed a cross brace that's welded to the driver and passenger seat mounts and there you go ;-) I still need to run and connect the cable but, that's the easy part.
I plan to have a leather shifter boot to match the seats made to help cover what's left of the drink hole.
