Leveling and Shocks
Leveling and Shocks
Thought I would put this here too...
I am looking at putting a 2 in leveling kit on my truck and I am wondering a few things.
1) What is the best, yet inexpensive kit to use. I am looking for 2 inches of front end lift
2) Do I "HAVE" to upgrade the shocks right now? I am going to in the future but I have about $700 worth of steering stuff to fix first.
Thanks for your input in advance.

Spacers are the cheapest way to lift. They don't do much for the ride.
You don't need shocks right away if you're running as a daily driver. I'm running a leveling spacer on stock shocks right now until I gather funds for new shocks all around.
You'll probably hear you'll need an adjustable track bar. It would be nice to have but it is some money too. You don't need it right away but you might eventually want to upgrade.
Overall the new steering will take care a lot of the sins of the front end. I just did the steering upgrade and got an alignment and the truck feels good.

I purchased longer 5100 series Bilstein shocks when I installed Carli 3" springs. I was surprised to learn the stock shocks (I assume stock...) from my '06 were almost identical length relative to the Bilsteins when fully extended. I wouldn't worry about running the stockers with a 2" lift. If they begin leaking then you know they've been over-extended one too many times, and then it's time for an upgrade. I'm betting you won't have a problem.
