I know I will get flammed for this, but I am wanting a programmer/ gauge combo. I really do not care about the programmer as much, maybe MPGs, so I do not need anything with crazy power levels.

I have been looking at the BD PMT because of the gauges primarily. I know the SMARTY S-06 is supposed to be invisible and not leave a "foot print" when taking it to the dealer. Will the bully dog do the same?

I know most everyone will say get the SMARTY and good gauges, but I really like the digital "package" style of the PMT. Like I said I am not getting it for the high end programming, but rather the gauges and occasional towing or MPG boost.

Anyone know if the PMT can be cleaned before dealer service, or is there a similar unit out there? Thanks Guys..

 

I'm pretty certain that it'll leave a footprint. But even the smarty will leave a footprint. Just depends on how much digging the dealer does. A friend has the Quadzilla Adrenaline. I am really impressed at how well the box does and the throttle response it adds. He got it with the pulse monitor. Its cheaper than Bullydog and i believe it monitors more parameters than the Pmt. Also internet updateable. Look into it if you get the chance. I'm not bashing Bullydog by anymeans, but I've heard stories of their customer service and I'd rather send my money somewhere else.

you could also go with a Commander if you want the digital style gauge pod. A friend of mine has that and he is quite happy with it on his 04. He is running a Smarty Jr. and MP-8 pulls a 25-30' 5th wheel travel trailer.

 

Edge also makes a digi monitor and A piller pod, called the Insight. It's a gauge only set up.

If the warrenty is a concern, then use something like the Bully Dog Outlook Monitoer. It's gauges only, no tuning capacity. Couple that with a Smarty Jr.

If you have a gauge/tuner combo, then you have to remove it to take it to the dealer. If it's on the dash and plugged in, they will know you've used a tuner. Try and tell them you bought the tuner but don't use it, and see what happens.

If you have a seperate gauge package, you can leave it in place. I have heard that some dealers will give you a hard time about that. But mine didn't.

 

I really like my guages. I have my fuel pressure gauge on the steering column. I bought these autometers from a friend who had them sent to hom on accident when he had ordered some autometer cobalts. they look really close to the instrument cluster in the truck. If i hadnt had gotten a good deal on them and if i had to do it again I would have gotten the Di-pricols. They look identical to the instrument cluster in our trucks.

I researched the Quadzilla and it looks like the Scout has replaced the Commander.

The criteria I MUST have is Boost, Pyro, Trans Temp, Fuel Pressure
I would LIKE to have the ability to see and reset trouble codes as well.

So of the following which would you choose:
Quadzilla Scout
Bully Dog Outlook Monitor
Edge Insight
A different unit I have not covered?

Also on the 07 5.9 trucks is there a Pyro reading in the OBDII or Must I install the Pyro? I noticed the Edge sales a separate Pyro, but I think I want to use the Boost bolt instead. not sure if I can make that work without drilling, taping, and installing their probe (I do not know if it is calibrated specifically for the Insight, or if the other end of the fitting is designed to fit onto the Insight a certain way.). I am not sure on the other units either.

All the moniters generally moniter the same things. I chose the Bully Dog because it was the smallest.

You'll have to add the pyrometer yourself. Dodge does not monitor that.

 

I really like the insight, over 100 different parameters to monitor. Plus you can customize the lcd background to match the stock dash colour perfectly. Sits on the dash and is not intrusive like my old gauges on the A pillar and you don't lose the grab handle either. This product gets my vote!!!!

 

Not really. THe box is capable of displaying all those readings. But, the Dodge ECU doesn't monitor them all. So, the box can't display a signal that isn't there.

For example, Ford and Chevy monitors the oil temp for some reason. Dodge does not. The Insight (or whatever box you have) can display oil temp in a Ford or Chevy, but not a Dodge.
