Latest and greatest fuel pump system?
Latest and greatest fuel pump system?
Currently running a FASS 150 circa 2007.
Today I have no pump. Batteries test 12.43v
Connector at the FASS pump gives me 12.1v until the ECM timer cuts the power off.
I banged on the FASS pump with a hammer. No go.
Do I buy whatever the latest and greatest or just get a new motor?
Thanks. Mike

new motor.
Likely the brushes are wore out, it may be possible to have the motor reconditioned if you have a motor shop handy to you.
Otherwise, I'd contact Lary here and see what he can do for setting you up with a new motor.
There is really nothing on the market that is "gee-whiz" better than what you have now.

I thought it was interesting that the truck runs fine without the pump. I just noticed when I turned the key on this morning there was no noise.
On edit... talked to someone at FASS. Said it would be fine till I get the new motor just no long trips.

Sorry to hear that... Nope not a joke. The lift pump has to maintain pressure to the injector pump. If I understand correctly, that pressure is how the injector pump stays lubricated. When I called a local Cummins shop, and told them I had replaced the lift pump, his first statement was I now would need a new injector pump. Went elsewhere to get the diagnostic to be sure and it seems that's what I'm looking at. Might be cheaper to buy a new lift pump than wait for the motor for your current one and risk the Injector pump.
Sorry for the bad news!

Just found out that FASS no longer supports my unit. Heard they are not making a replacement pump for it and are telling dealers to sell a newer complete unit.
Every single lead I got on Google is a dead end.

If your wallet can handle the cost, I would go with a mechanical (motor driven) pump... I don't know if Opie still offers his, but that is the route I would go... Nothing electrical is going to last as long as a motor driven unit..
GDP Fuel Boss is sold here by Larry and is an awesome mechanical pump.Since you were running a Fass you can piece together a kit and save some cash.
The only other option I would look at is Fuelab, they are brushless electric pumps. Problem is they are very pricey.
Intelligent Engineering aka Opie no longer makes the Mitusa mechanical pump.
GDP for the win!

Frankly the easiest solution is rebulding your motor by the sounds of it.
While the cp3 can suck the fuel without the pump, and it is true older Dmaxs had no pump (they also use a different- while similar- cp3) it is also true that you can/will burn your pump up in short order by running it without the lift pump. Just don't do it.

If I can be of any help let me know
