the K & N ruined one of our cummins during the test period do a search and you will find pix of what the turbo and motor look like after running K&N, we have nearly 900,000 on a 91 no blowby with regular filters

check out www.thetruthaboutfilters.com. Some really good data done by an independent lab on all the currently available filter media for both flow and cleanliness. Heavy stuff, but some clear winners come out.

PLUS on the note of tactfully criticizing the test results
.... if you compare. they say that every test they test S&B VS OE VS Whichever brand in question. but the S&B and the OE results are EXACTLY the same on every test which tells me they only tested those once.... and it was propably under the best conditions.... and then run everybody elses through the mill, and they got rode hard and hung up wet.

Well, its ISO testing, which is supposed to be beyond reproach from a consistency and quality standard. I don't care that S&B paid to do the testing, I think it shows that they want to sell a quality product. I don't see any other manufacturers paying for ISO testing or CARB certification, so I think thats commendable. They also show that some of the aFe and other filters work pretty darned well, so although S&B comes out ahead, the tests aren't exactly biased to slam anyone else.
Heck, we all know K&N's dust so bad that they kill Powerstrokes all the time--I dont think my Cummins likes dirt any more than they do

You guys want the truth about filters..... here it is. (Sorry, no S&B)

K&N filters by far outflow other filters. They are also one of the worst for capturing dirt. There are tricks that you can do to your K&N to keep it trapping dirt and have your oil samples at acceptable silicon levels. Can you just slap one in and run it 100k without maintenance? No. After running it a little it will develop light spots that you need to touch up with the aerosol oil. To me its no big deal, I am always poking around under the hood checking things over. The added maintenance is worth the aggravation for me to have the best flowing filter to make power.
