K&N filter question
K&N filter question
I have a K&N that came on the truck and have never used one before,is it normal to use a whole bottle of cleaner on it?
What do you all do to clean it? I just ran it under my sink, though about using my hose.

Is it the drop in kind that is almost like a cone? I used close to a whole bottle on mine. 10 oz. that is. I wiped any excess off after letting it soak for a while. Still haven't seen any oil in the air tube or anything.
Click http://http://www.knfilters.com/cleaning.htm to see the instructions from the web page.
I keep the receipts for my cleaner and oil ( or kits ) and I write the mileage and date on them. I usuallu use the whole 10 oz bottle of cleaner and almost the 10 oz bottle of oil. I think on the K&N website it says like 6.5 oz of oil for that filter. Just in case I ever have an issue K&N can't say some generic cleaner killed their filter! I worked on a pit crew for several dirt track racers that all used oiled filters and that's what we used on them though. Simple green, Super Purple, about anything that was on sale at Walmart at the time!
The cone kind.
I did use some Purple Power when I ran out of the cleaner, next time I am going to buy a gallon jug and use a pump sprayer on it,the mist spray it comes with is kinda lame.
