Just A Thought...will it work??

I noticed that some of little rice burners have a aftermarket cone filter mounted directly onto their turbo!! No intake at all just a filter on a turbo. I understand their turbos are mounted in different locations than ours but is anyone doing this or do yall think this would work on our trucks???? Tell me what you think.

Well, I dont think we have enough room. Our trucks require a much larger cone filter than the little ricers! Putting a tiny cone on your turbo is going to jepordize you airflow, and definatley have a bad affect on filtering!

a cold air intake from AFE would do a lot better job. there is a lot of heat down by the turbo, and you would be better off using air from the front of the truck, because colder air is more dense, resulting in more HP

With an air filter in that position, you'll be pulling much warmer air than if you moved further from the engine. I've got a buddy with a '04 that had switched to a type of BHAF mounted just down and in front of the turbo, and he had issues with overheating with the filter in that position. Even with a small cargo trailer, his water temps would get over 210. With a larger trailer, it would run hotter. When he switched back to the stock airbox, it wouldn't get over 200 at any time.

i think member sjlingenfelter is runnin his like that, but its also a 2nd gen and the turbo sits up higher....which i imagine would get cooler air then a low mounted 3rd gen turbo
